Development of the Environmental Sanitation Information System moves another step forward

Today, 8th July 2015, the University of Moratuwa K-Hub team met the administration of the Moratuwa Municipal Council to discuss the development of the Environmental Sanitation Information System (ESMIS). The discussion revealed the bottlenecks, institutional barriers and financial constraints in implementing the project. Further they identified the potentials in new areas the project can be developed with adapting to the local context.

The meeting was chaired by the Mayor of the Moratuwa Municipal Council, Mr. Samanlal Fernando. The Municipal Commissioner Mr. B.M. Karunarathne and many other officers represented the Municipal Council. Professor P.K.S. Mahanama, Dr. Jagath Munasinghe, Ms. Susantha Amarawickrama Mr. Aruna Bandara, Mr. Geeth Prasanna and Ms. Pavithra Madushani represented the University of Motatuwa.

The University of Moratuwa is developing an Environmental Sanitation Information System (ESMIS) in 2 Municipal Councils (in Sri Lanka) to improve their sanitation related service delivery process. The University research team is working on the core of the system with the assistance of the Municipal Councils.

The first 2 ESMIS are going to established in Gampaha and Moratuwa municipal councils and the background research are in progress.
