Development of the Environmental Sanitation Information System is in progress
The University of Moratuwa is developing a Environmental Sanitation Information System (ESMIS) in 2 Municipal Councils (in Sri Lanka) to improve their sanitation related service delivery process. The university research team is working on the core of the system with the assistance of the Municipal Councils.
The first 2 ESMIS are going to established in Gampaha and Moratuwa municipal councils and the background research are in progress.
On 24th June 2015, the University team and the Gampaha Municipal council passed the milestone of initiating the groundwork of the project. At the meeting which was held at Gampaha Municipal council, both parties worked out on the groundwork plan and appointed a working group.
The meeting was chaired by the Mayor of the Gampaha Municipal Council, Mr. Eranga Senanayaka. The Municipal Commissioner Mr. A.D.P.I. Prasanna and many other officers represented the Municipal Council. Professor P.K.S. Mahanama, Mr. Aruna Bandara, Mr. Geeth Prasanna, Ms. Pavithra Madushani and Ms. Janithra Wimaladasa represented the University of Motatuwa.
