Cities across the world, due to the sheer number of people that live in them, end up becoming thriving centers of diversity, with people of varying age-groups, ethnicities, religions, castes, genders, economic classes, physical and mental capacities living close to one another. To make sure that the process of development involves everyone and that no group is left behind or marginalised, cities need to focus on inclusivity. While most Indian cities are diverse, they are still not inclusive. The NIUA will actively leverage its expertise to work with governments to help build cities that are spatially, socially and economically inclusive. CID is envisaged as a platform platform that will collate, mine, spatialize and share data on urban informality and formality with cities and urban practitioners for effective decision-making. The real time interactions will focus on increasing the use of data for evidence-based planning. Its four key components shall be; a Platform, a User interface, Information Dissemination System and a Real Time Interaction Process for Capacity Building.
